How The Kid Started a Library

About The Kid Builds a Library

The Kid Builds a Library began when I was in the 2nd grade with one simple idea: make sure kids have access to books. I started speaking up about the importance of reading and protecting libraries as conversations about banning books began to grow. What started as a small effort quickly became a mission to help schools build libraries filled with books that inspire learning, curiosity, and opportunity.

Now I am in the 5th grade and getting ready for middle school. While I am still focused on protecting books and making sure kids have access to them, my mission has grown. The Kid Builds a Library is not only about providing books but also about inspiring leadership and encouraging students to take pride in their libraries.

Our Mission

Our mission is to expand access to books and educational resources while inspiring young leaders to protect and grow their school libraries. Through community support, donations, and partnerships, we work to ensure every child has the opportunity to read, learn, and discover their voice.

Student Ambassador Goal

My goal is to build a network of The Kid Builds a Library student ambassadors across schools nationwide. These student leaders will help protect their school libraries and grow them by adding STEM, career, and diversity books so every child can see themselves in what they read.

By empowering students to take ownership of their libraries, we can create young leaders who understand the power of literacy and know their voices matter.

The Kid Builds a Library is currently in the process of obtaining 501(c)(3) nonprofit status. In the meantime, we are actively accepting book donations and community support.

One Kid. One Book. One Library at a Time.
