Read Along Books: Engaging Resources for Children

A long time ago, there were TV shows made just for kids who wanted to learn and enhance their children's literacy. Shows like Sesame Street, Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood, and Reading Rainbow helped children from all different backgrounds learn together. Kids saw people who looked different from them, lived in different places, and spoke different languages. These diversity books taught us that we could all learn, read, and be kind to each other.

Those shows helped kids love books, ask questions, and believe they could be anything. Today, many of those shows are gone or harder to find, and kids spend more time on games and videos that don’t always support STEM education.

That means it is up to us now.

We can read more books.

We can share stories with our friends.

We can build libraries and help other kids discover reading.

Because learning should be for every kid everywhere.

And that is exactly what we are trying to do.

One Kid, One Book. One Library at a time!

Reading Rainbow is Back!

My mom has always worked a lot, but somehow she always finds a way to make time. When I was little, a book like this would have helped me understand that even if I didn’t see my mom every day, I was and still am loved. Now that I am older sometimes she takes me to her job sites. Shhh!

I love what I see in the mirror. Sometimes kids are mean. Sometimes the world doesn't notice me. But I see who I am behind my smile. I hope you see who you are too!

I still remember my first haircut. Over the years I have had so many different styles. It's been short, braided and I even had a mohawk. I love it long with my beanie now. Sometimes I wear it for comfort. How do you view your hair?

I always felt it was my job to protect kids. Weird huh? I have been a kid forever it seems. I just always wanted my friends to feel safe. I hope as you explore my page, you understand how much you matter to me. Yes, you!

My culture means a lot to me. But I also love learning about other cultures. My favorite part is trying new food.

It's so hard to pick a favorite book. I love them all. But when I was in the 2nd grade this was a favorite. Don't worry, as I get older I will just bring back even more cool information to share. You will always be a friend to me.

Did you know the author of this book also won at the Olympics? Do you know how hard Ms. Muhammad had to work to make it to the Olympics? She had to work very hard. Just think, she took time out to write a book just for you.

My 3rd Grade teacher taught me how to celebrate Chinese New Year. My mom takes me to 99 Ranch every year to get the Red Envelopes. We don't put a lot of money in her card. But it's important to me she knows how much she taught me.
